Paweł Kowal is a Polish politician, academic and civil servant.
Formerly, an elected representative of Prawo i Sprawiedliwość (Law and Justice), has also been an MEP for Polska jest Najważniejsza and Polska Razem and currently represents the economically liberal and socially conservative Poruzuminie in the European Parliament.
His most prominent positions have been as the director of the Mazowiecki Instytut Kultury (Masovian Cultural Institute, formerly, Masovian Institute of Culture and Art), the secretary of state in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the chair of the Sejm’s Culture Committee and chair of the European Parliament’s Delegation to the EU-Ukraine Parliamentary Association Committee. He is currently a member of the European Parliament’s Committee on Foreign Affairs.
Paweł Kowal was also involved in setting up the Museum of the Warsaw Uprising and works as a specialist on Central and Eastern Europe and post-Sovietism in the Institute of Political Studies and the Polish Academy of the Sciences (Instytut Studiów Politycznych Polskiej Akademii Nauk).
