Michael Kocáb is a Czech rock musician (for Pražský výběr) and a politician. He is currently a government minister responsible for human rights with Stranou zelených [the Czech Green Party]
Initially involved in rock music, Michael Kocáb gradually became politically influential in the late 80s, being involved in several parliamentary commissions, mainly regarding the withdrawal of Soviet troops from Czechslovakia. He was also an external advisor to President Havel from 1993-2003.
Michael has a foundation to support literature, the M.Kocába Foundation, which provides money for various literary causes within the Czech Republic.
