Georgi Medarov is a Bulgarian sociologist. He teaches critical sociology at the University of Plovdiv, Bulgaria and is a PhD candidate in the Department of Sociology in Sofia University, Bulgaria. His research lies in the fields of critical historical sociology, political economy and political ecology. Georgi is also the scientific secretary of the Institute for Critical Theories of Supermodernity, based in Sofia and works as a researcher for the environmentalist association “Za Zemiata”, the Bulgarian member of Friends of the Earth. And, in addition to his work, Georgi is a founding-member of New Left Perspectives, an activist research NGO, which organises public debates and conducts critical research in Bulgaria.
