Konstanty Gebert is a psychologist, Gazeta Wyborcza war correspondent (writing under the alias Dawid Warszawski) and expert on the Balkans and Middle Eastern regions. From 1992-1993, he worked as an advisor to Tadeusz Mazowiecki in his work as a Special Rapporteur at the United Nations’ Human Rights Commission within the former Yugoslavia and he is also well-known as the founder and former editor-in-chief of the Jewish magazine Midrasz. Konstanty Gebert is the author of numerous books, including Mebel [A Piece of Furniture] (1990), Obrona poczty sarajewskiej [Defending the Sarajevan Post] (1995), Wojna czterdziestoletnia [Forty Years of War] (2004) and Miejsce pod słońcem. Wojny Izraela [A Place in the Sun. The Israeli Wars] (2008).
