Ben Hayes is a Transnational Institute fellow who has worked for the civil liberties organisation Statewatch since 1996 and who specialises in national and international security policies. Ben also works as an independent researcher and consultant. He is a co-editor of The Secure and the Dispossesed: How the Military and Corporations are Shaping a Climate-Changed World and the author of NeoConOpticon: The EU Security-Industrial Complex (Transnational Institute, 2009). He has also written widely on the impact of counter-terrorism on human rights, peace-building and civil society; on border control and the development of Fortress Europe; and on surveillance before and after Edward Snowden.
