Valentina Orazzini has always been an active trade unionist and she now works as the European representative of the Italian metal workers’ trade union FIOM/CGIL. In her work, she focuses on finding common cause in the battles of trade unions and those of similarly aligned social movements, be such in Italy or the continent at large. It is her belief that the creation of a social Europe needs the reorganisation of trade unions, so as to create a European union movement, capable of asserting itself and reaching its goals. Subsequently, tasks like co-ordinating with groups such as Blockupy and the Coalizione Sociale are at the core of the work which she carries out.
