Dr. Funda Tekin is a senior researcher at both Berlin’s Institute for European Politics [IEP] and the Centre international de formation européenne [International Centre for European Education]. At CIFE [Centre international de formation européenne], Funda contributes to the development of the research department, while at IEP she coordinates The Truth about Lies on Europe – a project which researches Eurosceptic arguments prevalent within German society and looks to provide an objective appraisal of their factual basis to help decision makers in politics and civil society.
Before becoming a researcher, Funda studied at the University of Cologne’s Faculty of Management, Economics and Social Scienes, acquiring a PhD for her thesis on Differentiated Integration at Work: The Institutionalisation and Implementation of Opt-Outs from European Integration in the Area of Freedom, Security and Justice.
Her research interests include EU enlargement, the relationship between the EU and Turkey, the Area of Freedom, Security and Justice, the flexibility and differentiation of EU integration, the added value of Europe, the implications of treaty reforms and the institutionalisation of the EU.
